Your project can be anything that improves walking and biking anywhere in Brevard County. Anything from filling a pothole, repairing, completing, or adding a sidewalk, to adding or re-striping a bike lane, adding shade trees, basically anything that you can imagine that can be done for under $5000. Get creative! Maybe think about adding a needed bench or shelter at a bus stop, a bike rack at a local business, lights to make a dark crosswalk safer at night. We want to hear all of your ideas and partner with you to get them done! Call or email us with any questions. Don’t be shy. We love to hear from you!

  1. Here are some tips for good entries:
    1. Find a pedestrian or bicycling issue that you would like to see fixed anywhere in Brevard County. Could be a disconnected sidewalk, a stretch of sidewalk that needs some shade trees, a bike lane that needs some fresh paint, or a bus stop that could use a bench. Remember your spending limit for an entry in this contest is $5000, so keep that in mind.
    2. Take some pictures of the problem area.
    3. Think of an idea to fix the problem.
    4. Look up estimated costs to help you keep your solution under the $5000 limit for the Better Block contest.
    5. Briefly describe your problem and solution in an email to walkablebrevard@gmail.com in 500 words or less and send it in by midnight on Oct. 31st, 2015.
    It’s that simple!
