Suburban Myth #4

Suburban Myth: “Trucks and buses need a 50′ min curb radius!” Answer: Nope. We can use “effective radius” in our designs! http://nacto.org/publication/urban-street-design-guide/intersection-design-elements/corner-radii/. When turning a truck or bus can use the available space in the intersection to make the turn. Hold the stop bars back a little to help! Large curb radii create high speeds and make streets dangerous to cross. 20′ radius is plenty for a 35mph street.
